PEERS® is an evidence-based social skills intervention program where we tackle topics, such as handling rejection, conflict resolution, staying on-topic during conversations, non-verbal communication, sharing the conversations, navigating social media, self-empowerment strategies, and social-emotional learning.
The Social Club evolved from facilitated home playdates, where a few kids come together, practice their social skills, connect with one another through shared experiences, and cultivate meaningful relationships.
We currently have multiple age groups (5-18 yrs.) running during the week in the after-school hours.

After the COVID lockdown we realized that our boy had missed out on a couple of years of learning/ experience with social skills so we signed him up for once a week sessions at the Hummingbird nest and it has been great. As far as our boy is concerned, it's just a social club, and he enjoys his time with the other kids there. But Tamar is great at gently guiding the kids through anything that feels awkward, helping them understand how to engage in a way that's authentic. We're very grateful for the fun, safe, encouraging space Tamar has created.
I've been searching all over the city for an inclusive therapeutic environment for my kids to develop social skills. So many places claim to support neurodiversity, but most are out of their element. The Hummingbird Nest, on the other hand, really gets ND kids. They're able to offer many options and creative solutions. I'm so grateful we found them. My kids are already showing so much growth. My hope is they'll have more coping skills for when they enter middle school.This place is exactly what they need.
Our son has made such incredible progress since starting at The Hummingbird Nest. He loves going to The Hummingbird Nest and looks forward to it every week. He has made many friends and learned so many new skills! We especially appreciate the Summer and Winter Social Skills Camps. Tamar and her team run an amazing program and approach each child and each family with respect, empathy and personalized care. I highly recommend them to any family with neurodiverse kids!
Frequently Asked Questions
We start with an intake session with your child to determine if they are ready for The Social Club. During the intake we will also take into consideration your childs’ unique personality and see which group would be the best fit, as each group has a different dynamic.
The Social Club meets once a week for 55 minutes and is a year-round program.
Parents are welcome to wait for their child in our lobby, which is where the children are returned after session.
Within 24 hours after The Social Club session, a progress note is sent to the parent's email on file with session information through our HIPAA-secured client portal.
